Active Directory Groups Explained.
"Security Group-Domain Local" can be a member of "Distribution Group-domain local" group only.
"Security Group-Global" cannot be a member of its own type. It can be a member of all other types of groups.
"Distribution Group-Domain Local" can be a member of "Distribution Group-domain local" group only (its own type).
"Distribution Group-Global" can be a member of any group except "Security Group-Global".
"Distribution Group-Global" can be a member of any group except "Security Group-Global" and "Distribution Group-Global".
